Take the thrill of a lifetime ride on Australia's Premier Steam Railway "Puffing Billy". This is not a 'theme park' ride but a ride back into history - history of the days of steam travel that is.

We start the day with a short drive through Melbourne's hilly eastern suburbs to Belgrave. This is the start of the adventure "Puffing Billy". It is here we join the train for its journey through the heavily timbered hills. Over old trestle bridges and through that modern invention, boom gates, we travel upwards through spectacular scenery. We pass through old railway stations, for "Puffing Billy" was the only means of transport for the locals in days gone by.

We eventually leave our train at the lovely township of Gembrook. The line was only completed to this point during October 1998. Although this is the end of our train journey it isn't the end of our association with the railway because we return Lakeside (Emerald Park/Lake) for a B-B-Q lunch. After lunch you could take the opportunity to visit the Model Railway display or paddle a 'paddle boat' around the lake.

It's then time for the return drive back to Melbourne however we are sure that you won't be bored as the journey takes you through some of Melbourne's most spectacular scenery. We will travel through The Sherbrooke Forest and up onto the Dandenong Ranges and back through the suburbs to the city.
