Just a short drive down the Ballarat Freeway takes us to the historic city of Ballarat situated 110 kilometers north west of Melbourne. It is said that Ballarat is the 'Birthplace of the Australian Spirit'. Born of the turbulent Goldrush era Ballarat is rich in history, heritage and culture.

Our tours usually visit, and make a day of, Sovereign Hill. This recreation of a goldmining town is one of Australia's premier tourist attractions. Pan for gold, ride through the township on a horse drawn carriage, tour underground through a gold mine.

Wander through the authentic recreated 1850's township, or just relax in the 1850's hotel and drink up the atmosphere of the era. All of the staff of the township are local people dressed in period costumes.
